My Navratri Celebration & Wishes!!

Dear Friends,

Wishing you all a very happy, colorful & enthusiastic (esp for them who play Garba/Dandiya) Navratri Festival.

With this wishes I would like to share one nice incidence of my life, don’t know why but today I just feel like share wit you. Will start from basic information, I am Gujju and you all may know that Gujarat is famous for playing Garba/Dandiya during Navratri. As a child I was not at all a Garba freak like other girls of my age or my elder sister. I had disability in right leg, I can play, walk but always felt shy to dance & run due to limping leg. Never took part in school programmes, My Sis & Maa always wanted me to perform on stage….so when I was in 11th Class I forced myself for one of the dance performance though it was Marwari dance but I enjoyed doing it. I saw my Sis (who is like Mom to me) was so happy for me…then I got little confidence so I started doing Garba with her during Navrati but yet I was hesitant to express & enjoying that. During college-times I had nice and enthusiastic group who all were good dancers & especially my best friend, she was so great & graceful, she encouraged me a lot so gradually I started enjoying it & than we were like addicted to Navratri, we dance for all nine nights.

I’d lost good chance to perform on stage during school, which my Sis & Mom always wanted me to do. Then I decide to join Garba class & I took part in four performance & that day I saw my parents were so happy, I saw shine of happiness in my Sis & Bro’s eyes. I feel satisfied with this………

You know Friends what was biggest change for me……..the girl who never put her leg on Garba ground for 18 years had choreographed a whole Gaba performance. Yep….!! I did it last year, I am working with international organization & our organization planned staff event where all state offices were going to take part. Obviously Gujarat office is assigned to perform Garba on stage. In my office (in Gujarat) my all other colleges are non-gujarati 4 female & 8 males & tat including our boss. It was Hercules task for me….from choosing song, dress, props & most important dance steps where all non-dancer can perform, that too in 10 days…I must say God  gave me chance to do something different which I never thought in dream &  God also gave me strength to prove myself & come out of my hesitance of disebility. All colleagues worked hard & finally our performance was best in whole show!! I was appreciated by everybody & no one realize my disability.

I wrote too long but this is what I wanted to share with you that if you wish you can do everything in your life. Though it is small thing to prove but what made me more confident & my faith in Supreme power/Divine increased that he/she gave me chance & strength to do whatever I wish. In this festival I would like to thank first to my parents, my sis-bro, my best friend & my Guru & above all the Devine in world, divine in our ownself.

May Maa Amba (Godess Durga) bless all of you/us with her blessings!!

Wishing you Happy Navratri!!

Love

Vibhs
